The Xiaomi 18 Fold was first shown to the public last week at IFA 2026. Now, it has officially launched in China, marking Xiaomi’s first entry into the wide-screen foldable phone category.
Display
The Xiaomi 18 Fold features a 5.38-inch cover screen with a resolution of 1712 x 1168 pixels. Unfolded, it reveals a 7.58-inch main display with a resolution of 2364 x 1672 pixels.
The main display carries a 2:1 aspect ratio and includes an anti-reflective coating. Both screens support a 1-120Hz refresh rate and reach peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits.
Xiaomi states the main display uses a dual-layer ultra-thin glass (UTG) structure, technology the company claims makes the Xiaomi 18 Fold’s display 178% stronger and 29% more impact-resistant compared to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4.
Performance
The Xiaomi 18 Fold runs on Xiaomi’s own XRing O3 chipset. The Chinese tech giant claims the XRing O3 is the first flagship AI chip to score up to 5 million points on AnTuTu benchmarks.
The chipset is paired with LPDDR6 RAM manufactured by Changxin Memory (CXMT), with capacity up to 16GB, and internal storage up to 1TB, according to Android Authority, reported Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Camera
Like other Xiaomi flagship phones, the Xiaomi 18 Fold features a camera system co-engineered with Leica. It comes with three rear cameras: a 200MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Battery and Charging
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, paired with 67W fast charging support. The device also supports 50W wireless charging.
Built to Last
On the durability front, the Xiaomi 18 Fold is coated with Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 on both its rear panel and cover screen, carrying an IP58/IP59 rating. The phone uses a Dragon Bone hinge mechanism paired with an aluminum alloy frame. Xiaomi claims the device has undergone 492 rounds of durability testing.
Xiaomi has also introduced a Xiaomi 18 Fold Ceramic Special Edition, using a silicon nitride ceramic panel that’s both lighter and stronger than the standard edition.
Design
In terms of design, Xiaomi states the 18 Fold weighs 219 grams and measures 10.68mm thick when folded. The phone comes in three color options: Black, Warm Gold White, and Nishino Red. Additional features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 7, UWB, and an IR Blaster.
Price and Availability
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is already available for pre-order in China, with first sales opening on September 10. It remains unclear whether this wide-screen foldable will launch outside China. Here’s the official pricing in China:

With a record-setting AnTuTu benchmark score, a genuinely capable Leica-tuned camera system, and durability improvements that address one of foldables’ biggest historical weaknesses, the Xiaomi 18 Fold looks like a strong first attempt at the wide-screen foldable format. Whether it eventually makes its way to international markets remains the key question for anyone outside China hoping to get their hands on one.
