What started as an effort to bring internet access to an underserved community has turned into a legal battle. Yogi Gilang Arya Setia, who had been selling Starlink internet vouchers, is now standing trial at the Padang District Court in West Sumatra.
According to kompas review on Monday, August 24, 2026, of the Padang District Court’s Case Tracking Information System (SIPP), under case number 450/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Pdg, Yogi has been charged with operating a telecommunications network and service without a license in the Mentawai Islands Regency.
The alleged activity is said to have taken place sometime between 2024 and October 1, 2025, or at minimum, during that general period, in Sikakap Timur Hamlet, Sikakap Village, Sikakap District, Mentawai Islands Regency.
What Was Seized as Evidence
Court records list several pieces of equipment seized as evidence, including one Starlink internet kit and one Starlink Gen3-V4 modem.
Authorities also confiscated a number of supporting devices, including a MikroTik RouterBoard 1100AHX4, an HTB-3100 converter, a Ruijie Reyee AX3100 router, a Zamdon-brand low-frequency PV inverter, and a Livepo 2 12V/200AH battery.
Also listed as evidence: 257 units of 2GB vouchers priced at Rp 10,000 each, 253 units of 6GB vouchers priced at Rp 23,000 each, and 58 units of 10GB bonus vouchers.
These items were recorded as seized from Yogi Gilang Arya Setia at the Mentawai Islands Police Station in West Sumatra.
The Padang District Court also recorded additional equipment seized from other individuals connected to the case, including an RG-EW1200 access router and an HTB-3100 converter seized from a person identified as Anita Kristiani, and a separate RG-EW1200 router and HTB-3100 converter seized from a person identified as Cici Monalisa Malau.
All of these items are listed as evidence in Yogi’s case at the Padang District Court. The case is being prosecuted by public prosecutors Geri Samuel Hutagaol and Vista Sandra.
Case Timeline: From Filing to Trial
After the investigation process concluded, Yogi’s case was formally registered at the Padang District Court on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, under case number 450/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Pdg. According to SIPP records, Yogi is listed as the sole defendant in the case.
The trial has since progressed through several stages. Based on the Padang District Court’s hearing schedule, a session held on August 13, 2026, addressed the prosecution’s response.
The case took another turn on August 20, 2026, when the panel of judges rejected an objection (verzet) filed by Yogi’s legal counsel. As a result, the case is proceeding to the main examination phase of the trial.
